AmericasTAKEN.com is a social media web site geared towards helping children #TAKEN by CPS and their biological families search for each other. Even in cases of abuse, where the parent is stripped of their right to parent, the child should not be stripped of the biological ties to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Forced adoption denies the #TAKEN child these biological connections. Presently Child Welfare laws favor a severing of the biological bond by forced adoption.
I envisioned a place where Parents could post their children's profiles, photos, details and more in an effort to find their children. Children who have been adopted or placed in foster care could someday find their birth parents by searching for clues their parents or other biological family members place in a treasure chest of information on our site.
Like other social media platforms, users of AmericasTAKEN.com can connect with other users, send private messages, exchange photos and interact with each other away in our own community, protected from the marginalization that the family court system and society offers us now.
Senator Nancy Schaefer recognized the corruption that existed in the family court system and worked diligently to bring about change right up until her death. We honor Senator Schaefer each year on the anniversary of her death by protesting CPS offices nationwide. Her clear vision and her ability to articulate the crisis that is occurring in the corrupt family court process is the very basis for our cause and our push to enact an open adoption records act.
We were a sector of society that had no national voice until the activist group Anonymous made the choice to champion the cause of #TAKEN children. Advocates, activists, protesters, and parents of #TAKEN children will be forever indebted to Anonymous for all they have done. We were able to rally under the #TAKEN and #OpExposeCPS banners in an unprecedented way.
We have a long way to go to bring about a fair and constitutional family court process, but we now know we can stand together, in unity, for our #TAKEN children. The dark days of isolation and the forced alienation of our #TAKEN children are coming to an end. We will accept nothing less than that for our #TAKEN children.
Anonymous, advocates, activists, parents and we at AmericasTaken are committed to dialogue with lawmakers, the courts and the Child Welfare Bureau, to bring about change in a failed system.
We will not stop until that happens.
